The Beautiful Life - 2010 Calendar by Jason Tag

On my first shoot with a wonderful model named ashleigh, I noticed a tattoo on her arm that said, in Italian, “The Beautiful Life” I felt that it was kismet that we were to meet and create wonderful art together.

It’s not just a saying to me now. To me it’s a statement that reflects the way I live my life as well as how I create art. This calendar contains images which showcase how I feel about this beautiful life.

Art book reccomendations…

Yesterday I recieved an email from the very talented photographer, David Winge. He wrote to ask about Blurb.com. The company that is printing my latest books. He was writing to ask about how the prints look. and what my experience with the company was like. I really like Blurb.com. they seem to be a great company producing what looks like great products. And they are certainly better than the hell I was going through with another printer that shall go nameless.

Imagine my surprise to get a message from him this morning with a link to his new book! I’m very happy that he has published a book of his nudes because they are fantastic. My book reccomendation this month… “Desert Nudes” by David Winge!

First Artistic Shoot with my Nikon D80!

This morning I had a shoot with the extremely beautiful Kari. It was our first shoot together and the first artistic shoot I’ve done with my new Nikon D80. Both Kari and camera were wonderful to work with… although I thought that Kari was the more beautiful of the two!

We started of the shoot at the summit of a mountain near Honolulu. It’s one of my favorite places on Oahu. Not just to shoot there but also one of those places to just sit back and take in the beautiful view of the entire southern shore of Oahu. I jump at the chance to have that view as a background in my images.

After about 30-40 minutes we followed an old road that led to the second summit. We did a few shots of dance poses on the road and then moved into the bamboo forest. It was a great shoot and such a beautiful way to start the day!

The new camera performed very well. There were only a few instances where I got tripped up when the camera refused to fire the shutter because of the center of my composed image was out of focus. This is something that I’ll have to find a way to turn off or find a better way around. Other than that I felt very comfortable with the camera. I was also able to take some shots at higher ISO settings and found that the noise above ISO 640 is fairly bad but that’s to be expected when you start cranking up the ISO like that. Most of the shots I took at ISO 200 and the noise is virtually non-existent. And most of the shots turned out very well. It’s a comfortable camera to work with and I never felt that it lacked anything.

All in all, the camera gave me great results and so did Kari! Here are a few images from today’s shoot… Enjoy!

During the shoot with Ashleigh this month, she suggested that I should put together a calendar featuring my images. I told her about my book(which is available on lulu.com!) and how I’m working on a second book focused on outdoor nudes and already thinking about my third book which will be featuring images of nudes in and around trees. We continued to talk about a lot of other things that day but the calendar idea germinated for a while. So a few days ago I decided that the calendar idea is not a bad idea. So I put one together at RedBubble.com! Of course prints of my images are also available at RedBubble as well.

Artistic Nude Vs. Glamour Nude

I’ve been looking back at my images and wondering if I’ve somehow strayed into the genre of glamour nudes. Not that it really matters but I know that the images I wish to capture are more along the lines of artistic nudes. I just find the artistic images more interesting but I enjoy shooting both styles. So I leave the question up to you. Should I focus on artistic nudes or glamour nudes?
