After more than two months of not shooting nudes, I finally decided it was time for me to get back into the seeing of things and shoot nudes again. I had to take the break for financial reasons and I certainly have missed the creation of the art.

I find it interesting because over the past two months I’ve been shooting landscapes and scenery. I’ve been hiking once or twice and brought My camera along. I even took a few really nice sunset shots and yet I still felt like something was missing from my life. That shooting nudes is what makes me feel like an artist creating art. I feel that when I’m shooting landscapes or shooting for an advertisement, that I’m just a photographer. But when I’m on location, directing a model and shaping her poses, that I feel like an artist. It’s a feeling that I love and want to feel always. I am sad when I don’t get to feel that way.

So it should come as no surprise that the shoot with Breezy on Sunday was great! We went to one of My favorite places on Oahu and payed with a few ideas that we had. We started with the simple and always beautiful, full-nude look before jumping into playing briefly with some fabrics. Breezy brought a sarong with her that was interesting so we did a few shots with it. After that we moved to a fence at the location and got her into a fishnet body stocking. I wanted to shoot with the fence and the body stocking because of the similarities between the two in terms of shapes and lines. And I like that the fishnet put the same pattern across her skin that the fence had.

We spent most of the shoot with the fishnet and at the end of the shoot I got a shot that I had been thinking about for about 6 months now. The shot involved me being posed against by the model.

At the end of the shoot we sat and talked and just enjoyed the morning air in the bamboo forest… It was a great shoot!

So much has been going on this week that it’s taken me till now to write about the shoot I did last Sunday with Ashleigh. It was a fantastic shoot… and we had a great time playing with the location I selected. The location was a hiking trail that I had never shot with before, but it’s located up in the mountains above Honolulu. And offered some really nice opportunities for some great shots.

We started off the shoot playing with a piece of fabric I had leftover from a shoot in January, that I never used. So we decided to play some more with fabric. It was a good choice and I think Ashleigh really had a great time with it. On this particular trail there used to be a tree that had grown up and over the trail creating a tree bridge across the trail. I was hoping to shoot with this tree. But when we got there we say that it had been cut down. Probably due to it falling on the trail causing a hazard to hikers. So we shot with the tree stump instead.

As we moved down the trail the foliage opened up and the sun looked amazingly beautiful against her skin… so we stopped there to shoot. We did s few shots with the fabric and a few without. We probably should have stayed here and shot the rest of the time. The light here was fantastic. but we did move one and we played with a lot of other trees and even got some shots of Ashleigh in a small stream.

We encountered a few hikers and had to stop several times to wait for them to pass and get out of view and then we started back up again. She was a real champ in this department because we were interrupted a few times and I felt bad because I didn’t expect the trail to be that popular on a Sunday morning… That day there were at least 5 groups we had to wait for. But we still got great shots, so I don’t mind.

Ashleigh is a great model and a fun person to hang out with… and of course she’s an incredibly beautiful person as well. We had a great time and I’m sure we’ll be shooting together again soon….

This morning I had a shoot with the extremely beautiful Kari. It was our first shoot together and the first artistic shoot I’ve done with my new Nikon D80. Both Kari and camera were wonderful to work with… although I thought that Kari was the more beautiful of the two!

We started of the shoot at the summit of a mountain near Honolulu. It’s one of my favorite places on Oahu. Not just to shoot there but also one of those places to just sit back and take in the beautiful view of the entire southern shore of Oahu. I jump at the chance to have that view as a background in my images.

After about 30-40 minutes we followed an old road that led to the second summit. We did a few shots of dance poses on the road and then moved into the bamboo forest. It was a great shoot and such a beautiful way to start the day!

The new camera performed very well. There were only a few instances where I got tripped up when the camera refused to fire the shutter because of the center of my composed image was out of focus. This is something that I’ll have to find a way to turn off or find a better way around. Other than that I felt very comfortable with the camera. I was also able to take some shots at higher ISO settings and found that the noise above ISO 640 is fairly bad but that’s to be expected when you start cranking up the ISO like that. Most of the shots I took at ISO 200 and the noise is virtually non-existent. And most of the shots turned out very well. It’s a comfortable camera to work with and I never felt that it lacked anything.

All in all, the camera gave me great results and so did Kari! Here are a few images from today’s shoot… Enjoy!

Yesterday I wrote that I was working on a shoot for the weekend. Lat night I received an email from a model who was interested in working with me. We talked on the phone about the shoot and it seems like she’s going to be a lot of fun to work with. I’m always a little cautious when working with a new model. I got the impression that she’s done some nude modeling before but it’s been mostly for art classes. I know she’ll be relieved to know that she won’t have to hold the same pose for 5 minutes at a time. I’m a little nervous about working with a model I’ve never worked with before mainly because I never know what to expect.

I’ve been quite surprised by the models I’ve worked with through this experiment. Rose, as an example, is a woman I’ve known for years but never worked with her as a model until a few weeks ago. Even though I knew her, I still wasn’t sure what I was going to get and she turned out to be quite an amazing model. I’m glad I asked her to pose for me. And I’m sure we’ll be working together soon. I’ve found so many great models and wonderful women through this experiment that I find myself anxious to meet this new model this weekend.

The location I’ve selected is a place I’ve shot at before. The last time I was there it was an afternoon shoot. This time we’ll be doing a morning shoot. It’s a place that has a lot of nature but also man-made elements as well. The location also features an old road which I look forward to using. I also want to explore where that road goes. It branches off in a direction that looks like it just goes off into the bamboo but it might lead to something interesting. So I’m thinking that we’ll start off at the top of the mountain, move to the road and then move into the wooded area. Being nude in the woods will be a great way to end the shoot.

I guess we’ll see what happens…
