I’m heading to Maui for a few days next week and will be able to get a shoot in while I’m there! I’m quite stoked because Maui is my favorite island here in Hawaii. It’s a place of such wonderful beauty. And the diversity of lanscapes are just simply amazing. From beach to desert to woods and everything in between. And Haleakala is like being on another planet! It’s simply a most amazing place. I can’t wait to go and get some pictures!

I absolutely love working with her because of her eyes. From the first shoot I did with her I couldn’t get over how beautiful her eyes are. I remember making her a cd of the shots…unedited, but I never did edit them myself. So I started going through that shoot and thought I ‘d post one of them here. This shot gives such a sense of peace, which I sometimes need to be reminded of. Especially at this moment in time when I feel especially chaotic.

I had this weird thought of getting a few shots that are framed badly… On purpose. I don’t know why but I thought it might be interesting. So while Sylvia was posing on some rocks I decided to hold the camera with one hand beneath my knees as I stood up. I pointed the camera in her general direction and press the shutter release. I was pretty pleased with the result. I think I’ll try some more of this on my next shoot just to see what happens. The shot below is one of the ones I took this way.

We had been trying to figure out how she could shoot with me since she was going to be on Oahu. However the day she was going to be on Oahu was going to be tricky for me to get a shoot together since I’m working two jobs right now. So instead we decided to shoot on Saturday. It turned out to be a much better deal for both of us. This way we could work without trying to cram in two hours worth of work into one hour. I’ll be posting what I learned from this shoot a little later so stay tuned for that…

One of the shots that came out of this shoot give me goose bumps when I look at it. it was completely sontaneous. She just got into this pose and the magic happened. Sometimes it’s just being in the right place at the right time…

The second shot was an idea that stemed from an idea that Sylvia had.  Since she was the inspiration for the idea I give her the credit.

With that said… Today I met a beautiful model on the Island of Maui for a shoot. For me, Maui is one of those magical and enchanted places. A place of what seems to be, full of inspiration. I have always had a place in my heart for Maui and the beauty and magic that lives there. Incidentally, it was where I got my start as a Photographer. I was lucky because my girlfriend at the time was a photographer and still is. Because of her I fell in love with photography… And of course Maui. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that my first nude photo shoot would also be on Maui.
