Today’s Shoot
Today was unlike my usual routine of shooting nude art on the weekends. I was asked to shoot a wedding ceremony and reception. I was honoured to do it considering I had never shot a wedding before. It was also a great way to see if it’s something I could do. Not that I’ll be offering my services as a wedding photographer anytime soon… but it was fun to try it out and see…
The day started out with an outdoor recpetion near the shore. Naturally, there was a mist in the air… a slight drizzzle. Not enough to rain out the event but just enough to make you think it’s going to start raining harder. The ceremony went off without a hitch and I just jumped right in and got down to shooting. I felt that it was tough to keep up with all the things that were happening. I starting to think that I should I should give one of my friends my backup camera, but there was no time to think. It was just shoot, look, shoot, look. Exactly the way I like to work! Once it was over we did a few group shots and then we headed to the reception
Once at the recpetion I realized quickly that the lighting in the room was going to be tricky. There were these recessed light in the ceiling that didn’t really offer much light so I had to really ramp up the ISO settings in my camera and put on the flash. I sho the rest of the shots at ISO 400 with the flash on at 1/2 power.
I proceeded to make my way around the room getting shots of everyone in groups at each of the tables. A few times I got shots with the newlyweds, sometime not. But the main point was to get pictures of everyone who was there.
The rest of the time I was called all over the place to take pictures of this and pictures of that. Take a picture of this guy and that one. A few times a woman cam over to me and asked me to take her picture. I didn’t mind, thats why I was there. Like I said earlier, I won’t be doing to many weddings, but I have to admit that it was fun and I got some fun shots as well.
