The shoot with Jillian was awesome!   We had a great time shooting together… again.  I expected that we would.  We had a great time the last we time we worked together and she’s a fun model to work with.  I think we picked the perfect location for us this time.  The contrast between her skin and the man made rock walls was quite nice and the shapes that she was able to make also worked really well with the location as well.

We started off the shoot at some ruins we knew of and we basically played around and just came up with ideas as we went along.  The sun was a little harsh so we mainly stuck to shooting when the sun went behind the clouds or keeping Jillian in shadow as we shot.  This wasn’t to hard to do since there were clouds in the sky and the wind was moving them pretty well.

At one point in the shoot, a light mist started to fall which looked really cool and

added a mystical quality to some of the shots (no pun intended).  But it did start to rain harder and it pured for a few minutes.  I’m glad that I always have an umbrella in my car and I’m glad that Jillian reminded me to bring it just in case.  On our last shoot we shot in the rain.  So a little rain this time was nothing.

After an hour or so we moved to a nearby waterfall which is just spectacular.  We tried a few long exposure shots in which the water seems to have a misty quality yet the rest of the image is in perfect focus.  This is not as easy as it looks.  I managed to get a few shots that I liked from this but I also realized that might I need to pull off shots

like this is a -3 stop neutral density filter.  This darkens the lens by 3 stops so that I’d have to use a much slower shutter speed in order to compensate for the imposed darkness resulting from the filter.

All in all we had a really great time together and I’m hoping that this means that we’ll be working together everytime she visits Hawaii…
