Photo Hunts

I’m thinking about putting together a group of people to go out on photo hunts.  The idea is that we would pick a cool place where we would all meet.  And then we’d walk around together taking pictures, talking pictures, and comparing what we’re seeing.  It could be a hike in the woods or maybe a really great beach, or even a place in the city.  The whole point is to challenge yourself to find something interesting about where you are and get good shots that are interesting to you.  If you think about it like a sight-seeing trip, it doesn’t work.  It works only when you force yourself to find something interesting to you.  Even if where you are doesn’t interest you.  There’s always something interesting to capture, you just have to find it.  I’ve done this a few times with a few friends and it always ends up being so much fun.

I’d love to do this with a large group, maybe once a month on a regular basis.  Of course this is just an idea right now but it’s interesting to me.  It wouldn’t be open just to those who are pros.  I would want anybody who just wanted to go.  I know that it would provide those who participate, a chance to see parts of Hawaii that they might not have gotten to see otherwise.  And who knows, it could even change the way they think about shooting, why they shoot, and what they shoot.

We’ll see what happens there….
