Upcoming shoot

I’ve got another shoot scheduled with the lovely and talented model you see at the top of the site(again I have promised to not use her name on the site). It was like a dream working with her last time so when my economic stimulus check came in I decided to spend it on a shoot with her. A wise way to spend it for sure.

I’m still unsure about the location at the moment it’s between an area with amazing lava rock or a beach that features mangroves and some killer lava rock. I’m still unsure not because of which place I like better but it’s due to the foot traffic both locations recieve and which one will be easier to get away from most observers. Both location will provide great opportunities but I would rather not have an audience while we work.

One of the problems I noticed on the last shoot was I tended towards taking shots quickly so that the model wouldn’t have to hold a pose for too long. Shooting this way ended up getting me over 600 shots. which is the most I’ve ever taken on any shoot. But I felt that I was rushing a little. That I really wasn’t taking the time to see the shot. Looking at the pose from a couple of different angles before composing the shot might have helped to make some better shots.

I always feel as though I need to rush because we may get caught at any moment or that I might miss something magical. I just need to remember to slow down and take the time to get the most out of each shot.

Another thing I’ll be working on is the incorporation of fill light. On the last shoot I found that some shots were a little fuzzy due to the low light in some of the locations we shot at. One image in particular was a great pose and the shot itself turned out to be great in black and white but in color I felt it was missing something. If I had a fill flash that might have solved it. The reflector might have worked but being under the canopy of a bamboo forest I though there wasn’t enough light to bounce off it. Of course I could also just bring my tripod with me too. Anyone of these solutions would have helped.

So I’ll be bringing my tripod and fill flash as well to help me figure this out and learn to incorporate these things into my shooting. I can’t wait to start shooting.

Aloha,
