Serendipity is a wonderful thing that sometimes happens on a shoot. Today serendipity happened in a very good way. I never want to be known for relying on serendipity but sometimes you just gotta go with it and see what develops.

I almost didn’t do this shoot because my schedule is pretty crazy right now. But when Ella emailed me I just couldn’t resist. I had seen some of her work and I was blown away that she wanted to shoot with me. I’m very happy with the photos that came out of this shoot. It still feels like it didn’t happen to me except I know that it did.

The Shoot:

She had just flown in from Ottawa the following night. She emailed me when she got in and asked me if I could pick up a shell necklace that she had seen somewhere in Waikiki. I thought that was brilliant and I immediately went in search of shell necklaces. I was tired and it was late but I knew it would be a great addition to the shoot. Ahh the things we do for beauty… Anyway, at the store I found 4 necklaces that would look great and I also found a couple of sarongs that I thought would look good against her skin tone. (the pink one was a winner!!) When we met just before the shoot Ella liked the necklaces and she wanted to use all four, How could I say no…

Once we started shooting her eyes just lit up in the morning sun and her skin took on this glow that I don’t think I have the words to describe. Ella, thank you for a fantastic morning.
